A Good Friday or A Black Friday?

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

Why do we call the day after Thanksgiving a “Black Friday” and the day our Jesus died a “Good Friday”?

When you think about it there was a Black Friday Long a go that started with a long Line of people following to see what was going on… Waiting to see what was going to take place. On this day a man named Jesus carried a Cross to a place where He would be crucified… With a criminal on each side and people gathered around to watch. This was truly going to be a Black Friday it seemed and not a “good” Friday…

Our modern-day “Black Friday” is the day that follows “THANKSgiving” and its meaning signifies a day where retailers can come “out of the red” as it is the busiest shopping day in our nation.

If that is why we call “Black Friday” Black Friday, then why is this a “Good Friday”? Well, that’s easy and simple. Jesus was sent for one purpose… To bring salvation to the world and save us from our sins (John 3:16). We call this “Good Friday” because we could not celebrate Easter and the resurrection of our Savior if He had not faced the cross and died for our sins. Because of all that happened on this day so long ago, we now have a true reason to celebrate this Easter, as we celebrate a risen savior and not a bunny rabbit…

Today, think about Jesus and that day when He took on the sins of the world and endured the Cross for each of us… Think about that Sunday morning and the tomb being empty…

Yes, its Good Friday….
BUT, Sunday’s Coming!!!

Let’s Go to Church!!
Let’s PACK THE HOUSE!

Come Expecting!
